I support Mt. Juliet having an indoor swimming facility, much like the Jimmy Floyd Center in Lebanon. It would be:

    (1) A huge asset for the high school and neighborhood swim teams, as well as for the many students who swim with Excel Aquatics and other area teams which groom for college scholarships and Olympics.

    (2) Great for any wishing to just exercise.

    (3) A family friendly asset for our town.

    (4) A place for senior citizens or others with arthritis, etc. to exercise and participate in water aerobics classes or therapy. Unlike many sports, swimming can be a lifelong sport.

Every time I have been to the JFC in Lebanon, it is being used by many. I believe an indoor swimming facility would be a worthy investment for Mt. Juliet and improve the health of our citizens.

Hi Vice Mayor Maness, I saw in the Lebanon Democrat the other day that you proposed instant runoff voting (a.k.a. ranked choice voting) for a local election. I’m sorry that the proposal was rejected by the mayor but glad to learn there’s a leader in the next town over who’s not only familiar with this voting method but also advocating for it.

In case you’re not aware, there is a new group working for this ballot reform across Tennessee (rankedchoicetn.org). We’ll be offering a free public demonstration of how RCV works on August 5th, Monday evening of next week from 5-7 at the Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville. We would love for you to join us if you’re able, as well as any of your colleagues or constituents who might be interested. Please let me know if you have any questions.
